My stint with CRPF gave me an intensive exposure to the Left Wing problem and other insurgent activities in NE and J&K. I personally led operations in WB and Chattisgarh and backed them with State-of-the-Art Technology to make Operations more incisive, precise, predictable and safe. Interacted with the last man in the field at almost all locations and saw a quantum leap in their morale, motivation and determination during Operations- especially after the unfortunate Chintalnar incident in Chattisgarh. Personally responsible for conducting Ops in ‘Abuj Maad’ – where no forces had gone in last 30 years.

The seven year stint with CBI helped me gain indepth insight into the nuances of scientific intelligence collection which would stand the scrutiny in the Courts. Also had a long exposure into the Anti-Corruption efforts of this agency and headed the biggest Region in CBI wherein a number of notable cases were registered. During my stint the Region registered and disposed a record number of RC/ PE’s. I also worked in the Special Crimes division where the cases involved high profile bureaucrats, politicians and criminals of organized crime syndicates. Emphasis was laid on using the latest and scientific methods in interrogation and investigation. Interacted regularly with SG/ ASG to pursue cases at High Court and Supreme Court level which gave me valuable insight in Court matters.

My one year stint at NDC helped me gain a very good insight in the security matters of the State. The importance of Inter-agency cooperation and my association with senior officers of the three arms of the Defence will certainly go a long way in facilitating discharge of my duties in sensitive matters concerning the State at all levels.

The various postings at District/ Field level exposed me to the varied aspects of policing and the interaction with all arms of the Government system. These helped me get the necessary experience in Investigation , Law and order, Anti-dacoity operations, VIP Security arrangements and the problems and intricacies related to Urban and Rural policing. I have also had the experience of having conducted Elections at all levels of Government - Lok Sabha , State Assembly, Panchayats and the local Municipal bodies.

Did a one year deputation to United Nations Police Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1997-98. Gained a good insight into the working of this prestigious organisation by working with Police officers of about 50 countries where I headed the Induction Training section. Represented the UN and went to 3 countries in South America- Argentine, Uruguay and Chile to select officers from these countries for the UN Mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
